Vintage Reporter - The Details
Vintage Reporter - The Details
Who are we looking for
The Vintage News has always prided itself on looking the part in our dress, equipment, transport, and etiquette.

Reporters will need to be sympathetically attired while reporting, and preferably vintage styled day to day.

The equipment used should be of retro style wherever possible (more later) never an obviously modern item.

Transport is less important, but we can dream can't we?
What do reporters get?
All published articles will be credited to you.
Regular reporters will be listed on the contributors page.
You may be paid a derisory sum of money per report. If you need some expenses covered please ask when taking on an assignment.
We will help you to obtain press passes or tickets If you need our help.
Content
We can all pick holes in anything. Sometimes issues do need to be highlighted. The core of TVN is to build community in numbers and real life events, so we prefer to sell a broadly positive view to entice folk out of their homes.

We will need a report in raw text, spell checked using British English, size specified per commission, and hi res photos, typically 20 - 50.

1 photo needs to be a self portrait showing your outfit.
Copyright
The report text and photos are exclusively ours for 14 days from the event. After this time copyright becomes shared such that both Reporter and The Vintage News is free to use them as they see fit.

Photos submitted must be high resolution 8MP or better and not watermarked.

Other photos taken while reporting for us are completely yours to do with as you see fit. We ask that no more than 5 of any such pictures appear online until 24hrs after your report goes live on this site.
Camera Equipment
You've probably spent enough time debating which of your accessories should be original and which reproduction.

When it comes to camera equipment, functionality does win some of the compromise arguments. We feel it important that reporters use something that looks right over how good a camera it is. We favour the Fujifilm X10 as a great all round unit, but there are many to choose from.

We encourage you to use a tripod, but once again, pick a vintage one, 1930s-1950s units are often cheaper than a new one, they will be a little heavier.

the odd sneaky instagram post we presume will be taken on a phone, please limit your phone/tablet activity to that.

If you become a regular reporter we may be able to help with some more bespoke equipment.

If you are shooting on film due dates can be adjusted.
