From a clown’s jacket dating from the 1860s, to Del Boy and Rodney’s Batman and Robin costumes from popular television show Only Fools and Horses; the exhibition certainly provides a broad and varied selection of costumes.
The exhibition is divided into many different rooms, so you are able to appreciate each section before moving onto the next. Highlights for me included a replica of Moira Shearer’s ballet shoes from The Red Shoes, accompanied by one of her ballet costumes (1948); costumes from the Broadway production of Wicked, showgirl plumes from Mrs Henderson Presents (2005) and of course Fred Astaire’s top hat and tails from the 1926 Broadway musical Lady Be Good.
Also present are immediately recognisable costumes from Titanic, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Star Wars and Downton Abbey.
Furthermore expect to see bespoke costumes made for Noel Coward, Tom Baker, Cate Blanchett, and a replica of Queen Elizabeth II Coronation gown, containing over 4000 beads and beautiful screen printed panels of fabric.
In addition to the many costumes on display, the replica workroom section of the exhibition offers an insightful glimpse of the work that goes into creating each costume.
Dressed by Angels: 175 Years of Costumes is an amalgamation and celebration of the company’s work and achievements, bringing together over 100 costumes, artefacts and photographs for display.

For costume lovers and movie fans, this is a must-see exhibition. As I mentioned earlier, the exhibition is displayed across a number of rooms, so there is plenty to see.
