The Summer of Vintage Festival
During the warm and everlasting days of summer there’s nothing better than heading off to a fun-filled vintage festival. You’re surrounded by like-minded enthusiasts and are treated to a huge variety of entertainment, food and shopping, all under a clear blue sky. That’s just why The Summer of Vintage Festival at Uttoxeter Racecourse was created.

Award winning Gemma Miller, better known as The Vintage Suitcase, and her experienced team, handpick all of their traders to create a festival stuffed full of high quality vintage and handmade offerings. The Summer of Vintage Festival, or SOVFest as it’s affectionately known, is cleverly split into several different shopping sections - handmade, curios & collectables, 1960s – 1990s and 1950s and below, to create an exciting mix of stalls.

And if you were struggling to create that perfect polished vintage look, you could get completely dolled up with your favourite vintage hairstyle and make-up thanks to The Pin Up Curl and The Pin Up Academy.

You could even have a professional photograph taken to capture the final look! What more could a vintage gal want?

Singer and burlesque performer, Kiki DeVille kicked off the proceedings and compered throughout the weekend, as well as providing a very entertaining talk about branding and social media. Other talks and Q&As were on offer from the Style Me Vintage team and Miss Pitchy Patchy. As well as a “Make Do and Mend’ fashion show from the Hope House Museum.

Live music was supplied throughout the day by the fabulous rockabilly band, The Discoveries and the very glamorous Lola Lamour. And for those who loved to show off their fancy footwork, they could dance in the gorgeous sunshine until their heart’s content with the help of the Groove Academy dance classes.

The day was brought to a close with a stylish fashion show, with visitors demonstrating their own take on vintage. Decades from the 1930s, right through to the 1970s were on display from a large collection of very classy ladies, and even one gentleman! The judges, who included the Vintage Life magazine’s very own Editor and vintage aficionado Rae Egglestone-Evans, chose a worthy winner and runner ups.

For those who wanted to continue on through until the early hours, a night of burlesque and cabaret was on offer from the fabulous Gilded Merkin performers. These included familiar names such as Scarlett Daggers, Kiki DeVille, Missy Malone and The Mighty Moustache. And if that didn’t completely wear you out, you could do it all again as the festival continued on through Sunday for a truly vintage weekend.
